The Player (Play)
For the next two hours, Alex was gone. Her short blond hair turned to a long, black waterfall of synthetic shine. Her face disappeared behind a layer of powder. She traded jeans and t-shirt for a red dress so long that the steps threatened her every footstep, vowing to wrap the fabric around her wobbling, heel clad feet.
Tonight, the words she spoke were not her own, but she would speak with more volume and confidence than Alex ever could.
Tonight, Alex was gone, transformed into a role so real, so complete, that she didn't mind losing herself in it.
